According to a local police officer, “Birya is a recent retiree from railways and was probably drunk when he took his own life while watching the match”. He further added that Kohli’s dismissal immolated the man and he took the drastic step of ending his own life. The victim wrote in his dying declaration that he was upset over Kohli’s wicket. The case has been registered and investigations are underway.
